I’m Alyson Thomas and I have been sewing ever since I could walk and talk. I am passionate about all needlecrafts, from hand embroidery to quilting, from free-motion stitching to dressmaking. I’ve been a member of a number of textile art groups, sat on the committee of the Swansea Festival of Stitch, been a member of several craft co-operatives and jointly ran a part-time craft shop on Gower for many years. For 34 of those years I was also a full-time English teacher in the Swansea Valley - a job I loved - but needles, threads and beautiful fabrics were always in my blood.

In July 2022 I was lucky enough to take early retirement and follow my lifelong dream of running my own fabric shop. I found the perfect property in my home town and The Blue House was born.

I am also still really passionate about teaching and hope to inspire everyone, young or old, to start sewing or renew long-forgotten skills. It’s ‘sew’ easy!
